Dare2Care, in collaboration with The Global Youth Leadership Institute (http://gyli.org/) is piloting it’s second Cohort of student/teacher leadership scholars next summer (2014) in Connecticut. Dare2Care’s student/teacher leadership opportunity is part of an initiative by Dare2Care designed to support new and courageous conversations around, gender, sex, diverse identities, respectful communities, and discrimination. The leadership program is fully-funded, (including travel and accommodation), and provides 4 students* and 2 teachers with the chance to develop their leadership skills in a creative, challenging, and culturally diverse environment. Participants are expected to meet certain learning objectives (including project implementation), throughout the year. This program runs for three years (for one week each summer). As this is a pilot program which will involve an IMPACT ASSESSMENT, conducted by our partner in scholarship – Cleveland State University – application is restricted to LAKEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN for the 2014 student selections. We hope to expand this program into the Greater Cleveland community in coming years. Sail date for our second Cohort of student/teacher scholars is June 23rd-27th, 2014. Our 2014 participants will join our current student/teachers from 2012 to continue the amazing transformational work that has begun in Lakewood High School. Current student bios are below. Our 4 students from Cohort I are currently high school juniors and we are very proud of Sara, Meghan, Devon, and Ann Marie, who along with Allison Breckel and Matt Heslep, their teacher mentors, have truly honored the mission, vision, and most of all spirit, of Dare2Care.
